Lets dive into the other countries first by recognizing why this happened. In marketing there is a technique called segmentation. This basically means to break up the consumers in the market into little groups to better sell to them. So, many times products are names to pitch to those exact people. The same goes for hair. After selling hair for years, vendors started to realize they needed to offer different types of hair regular, and with different names to different people. This is where the Brazilian hair extensions, Malaysian hair extensions, and even yaki hair extensions terms come from. There simply aren't women cutting their hair happily in these countries, at least not in any significant amount.
So, with a little bit of research and applying common sense, we can see that nearly all the hair on the market originates in India. There are no other countries that have a history and tradition of cutting (tonsuring) hair for their beliefs.
Countries in Asia such as China and Malaysia, in fact, regularly send agents to India to visit factories and buy hair. The main hair these countries buy from India, is the wasted or unusable hair from the hair auctions that Indian born vendors have exclusive access to. From these 100 kilogram bags of hair, usually at least 30% or 30 kilograms, is not able to be used or sold on the market. So, these companies come and buy that hair for pennies on the dollar and then use machines and chemicals to process them heavily. Unfortunately, this is the hair most women wear today that want cheaper priced hair.
